Generative AI

Generative AI has become one of the most transformative tools in video production, fundamentally changing how shots can be designed and produced. I primarily use an image-to-video approach because it provides greater control over composition, lighting, art direction, and visual consistency before motion is introduced. With carefully prepared reference material and detailed refinement, today’s tools can create near-photorealistic visuals and complete sequences that closely resemble traditionally produced footage. My focus is always realism. I try to get as close to a realistic, authentic feel as possible with AI. Lighting, camera behavior, motion, textures, and fine details should follow the visual language of real-world cinematography.

Audi Q5 Sportback

This is my Director’s Cut of an advertisement created for Audi Spain. My version uses entirely AI-generated footage, although every shot was extensively edited and refined. The vehicle shown is a specific configuration of the Audi Q5 Sportback. To keep the car as consistent as possible across every shot, I used detailed photographs and 3D renders covering the vehicle from multiple angles. These references significantly improved consistency, but every image and final video output still required careful re-tracking of the correct Audi logos, number plates, and defining model details, including the precise shape and design of the light signatures. Extensive color correction and post-production helped minimize the recognizable AI look, making the editing and finishing process especially time-consuming. The concept, edit, post-production, and sound design were all completed through a traditional workflow.

This proof of concept video was commissioned by a production company for a Chinese car manufacturer. The objective was to explore the use case of generative AI within traditional automotive commercial footage. A key focus was maintaining maximum consistency across the car’s exterior and interior while preserving realistic motion behavior and visual fidelity, aligned with the generative AI capabilities as of November 2025.

Sora 2 Beta Test

I created this test video with the preview version of Sora 2. As of October 1st, Sora 2 mainly supports text-to-video; image-to-video allows one reference image per generation and serves more as a visual guideline than a true starting point. For this test, I used a quick text-to-video approach, which is much faster but less visually consistent in its results. The main drawbacks are the watermarks and the 352p resolution limit, making it usable only for testing its theoretical capabilities. Despite that, its physics understanding and ability to generate multiple consistent angles within its 10-second window set a new benchmark. The full video process took about five to six hours, from the initial concept to manual music mixing and editing in After Effects. Most engine sounds came directly from Sora 2. This is not a polished cut, just a demo of what may soon be possible. The video reached over 5M views across all platforms.

Ultimate Drive

This is my first-ever full proof of concept based on AI-generated footage using an early image-to-video workflow, similar to today’s best practices but with much less control. My aim was to show that AI-driven footage, supported by traditional pre- and post-production plus sound and music mixing, can already feel fast-paced, believable, and somewhat coherent. This clip focuses more on the results of traditional editing craftsmanship than on raw AI output alone. This is the result of over 80 hours of hands-on work: generating images and videos, editing, sound design, VFX and color grading. Images were created with Midjourney 6.1, refined in Photoshop and Magnific AI, animated with Kling 1.6 AI and Veo 2, and finalized in After Effects with flares, flames, lighting effects, camera shake, and a 3D Porsche logo. Additional upscaling was done with Topaz AI. Below is a before-and-after comparison, as well as the final clip, which generated over 2M views across all platforms.

Diese Allgemeinen Geschäftsbedingungen (AGB) gelten für alle Verträge zwischen Stefan Aberer (nachfolgend „Dienstleister“) und seinen Kunden (nachfolgend „Kunde“) über Dienstleistungen im Bereich Video-Produktion, Video-Editing sowie Mediengestaltung und verwandte Leistungen, soweit nicht ausdrücklich etwas anderes vereinbart wurde.

VERTRAGSABSCHLUSS

Ein Vertrag kommt zustande, wenn der Kunde ein Angebot des Dienstleisters schriftlich oder mündlich annimmt oder wenn der Dienstleister eine schriftliche Auftragsbestätigung versendet.

LEISTUNGEN & MITWIRKUNGSPFLICHTEN

(1) Der genaue Umfang der zu erbringenden Leistungen ergibt sich aus dem jeweiligen Angebot oder der Auftragsbestätigung.
(2) Der Kunde verpflichtet sich, alle zur Durchführung des Auftrags erforderlichen Inhalte, Daten und Materialien rechtzeitig zur Verfügung zu stellen. Verzögerungen aufgrund verspäteter Lieferung solcher Materialien verlängern die Lieferfrist entsprechend.
(3) Änderungswünsche nach Auftragsbestätigung bedürfen einer gesonderten Vereinbarung und können zu Mehrkosten führen.

VERGÜTUNG & ZAHLUNGSBEDINGUNGEN

(1) Die Vergütung richtet sich nach dem im Angebot vereinbarten Preis. Alle Preise verstehen sich als Nettopreise gemäß § 6 Abs 1 Z 27 UStG (Kleinunternehmerregelung – keine Umsatzsteuer).
(2) Rechnungen sind, soweit nicht anders vereinbart, binnen 14 Tagen ab Rechnungsdatum ohne Abzug fällig.
(3) Bei Projekten mit einem Auftragswert von mehr als 1.000 Euro behält sich der Dienstleister vor, eine Anzahlung in Höhe von 30 % des Gesamtbetrags vor Beginn der Arbeiten zu verlangen.

ABNAHME

(1) Nach Fertigstellung wird das Arbeitsergebnis zur Abnahme vorgelegt.
(2) Der Kunde ist verpflichtet, das Werk innerhalb von 10 Werktagen zu prüfen und etwaige Mängel schriftlich mitzuteilen. Erfolgt innerhalb dieser Frist keine Rückmeldung, gilt das Werk als abgenommen.

NUTZUNGSRECHTE

(1) Mit vollständiger Zahlung erhält der Kunde die einfachen Nutzungsrechte am gelieferten Werk für den vereinbarten Zweck.
(2) Eine Weitergabe an Dritte oder die Bearbeitung durch Dritte bedarf der vorherigen schriftlichen Zustimmung des Dienstleisters.
(3) Der Dienstleister ist berechtigt, die erbrachten Leistungen zu Referenzzwecken (z.B. auf der eigenen Website oder in Social Media) zu verwenden, sofern der Kunde dem nicht ausdrücklich widerspricht.

HAFTUNG

(1) Der Dienstleister haftet nur für Schäden, die auf vorsätzlicher oder grob fahrlässiger Pflichtverletzung beruhen.
(2) Keine Haftung wird übernommen für Inhalte, die vom Kunden bereitgestellt werden (z.B. Texte, Bilder, Musik). Der Kunde stellt sicher, dass sämtliche gelieferten Materialien frei von Rechten Dritter sind.
(3) Für technische Probleme (z.B. Ausfälle von Servern oder Hosting-Diensten), die außerhalb des Einflussbereichs des Dienstleisters liegen, wird keine Haftung übernommen.

LIEFERUNG

Lieferfristen gelten nur als verbindlich, wenn sie ausdrücklich schriftlich zugesagt wurden. Bei unvorhergesehenen Ereignissen (z.B. Krankheit, höhere Gewalt) kann sich die Frist angemessen verlängern.

DATENSCHUTZ

Personenbezogene Daten werden ausschließlich zur Abwicklung des jeweiligen Auftrags verarbeitet und nicht an Dritte weitergegeben, sofern dies nicht zur Vertragserfüllung erforderlich ist.

SCHLUSSBESTIMMUNGEN

(1) Es gilt österreichisches Recht unter Ausschluss des UN-Kaufrechts.
(2) Gerichtsstand für alle Streitigkeiten ist Dornbirn.

My workflow is built mainly around industry-standard Adobe programs.
For AI-assisted tasks, I use a wide range of tools for image & video generation as well as editing. My main OS is Windows, but I’m also comfortable on macOS.

Color Management

I can work with all major camera systems: ARRI Alexa (Log C), RED Komodo & DSMC2 (REDCODE RAW / Log3G10), Blackmagic RAW & Sony S-Log. My pipeline is designed around Rec. 709 (Log to Rec. 709 conversion).

Programs & Tools

My main program is Adobe After Effects but I also work with Premiere, Photoshop, and DaVinci Resolve. In addition, I use a wide range of AI tools, including Midjourney, Nano Banana, Seedance, Topaz, Kling, ChatGPT, Gemini, Veo, and others.

Delivery Formats

I deliver in all common industry formats, including ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 4444, and H.264/HEVC (up to 4K resolution). Depending on the project's needs, I also provide custom outputs for broadcast, social media platforms, and/or web use.
